U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.: photo-gravures
The Wittemann Brothers, Adolph (1845-1938) and Herman L. Wittemann founded the Albertype Company in 1890. In operation until 1952, the Albertype Company produced over twenty-five thousand prints, which were distributed across the United States in the form of postcards and viewbooks. Adolph Wittemann, was among the agents who took photographs of different cities and regions, which were then reproduced as collotypes. This viewbook of West Point published in 1896 includes many fine images of the Academy at the end of the19th century.
